HOW TO MEASURE SLINGS
Measure Width
- Do not measure the old sling. The most accurate measurement is taken where the sling rail is secured (either bolted or welded) to the frame, not the end of the sling rails. It is ideal if the sling is still installed.
- If the sling is installed: Measure the visible part of the seat sling starting on the left side (Figure 1) to where it disappears into the sling rail on the right side (Figure 2).
- If the sling is not installed: Measure from the outside of the groove on the left sling rail to the outside of the groove on the right sling rail.
- Repeat to measure the chair back. The seat and back measurements are usually the same, but sometimes they’re different.
- Round up if necessary. In the photos below, the sling measures 20″ wide. If the width is not 1/4″, 1/2″, 3/4″ or a whole inch, round up. For example, if the width is 19 1/8″, order 19 1/4″.

Figure 1
Measure where the sling rails are attached to the frame, not at the end of the sling rails. Start measuring on the left edge of the visible part of the sling.

Figure 2
Measure the visible part of the sling from one sling rail to the opposite rail. The width of this sling is 20".

Figure 3
Measure the sling rail, not the sling. Do not include the sling rail caps.
Measure Length
- Measure the sling rail, not the sling. Measure the sling rail from one end to the other end following the rail’s contour (Figure 3.) Having someone help you hold the tape measure around the curves can help in measuring accurately.
- Do not include the sling rail end caps in the measurement.
- If the length is not 1/4″, 1/2″, 3/4″ or whole inch, round up. For example, if the length is 41 3/8″, order 41 1/2″.
